I love being a Stanlake Park wedding photographer, for many reasons. I love wine (in moderation!) and I love historical venues. And this wonderful Berkshire estate has both in spades. I’m no stranger to vineyard weddings both in the UK and Europe, and this is one of the best and most appealing to work at.

This particular day I worked with the lovely P and C who booked me on my “Full with David Package” and a few weeks later I delivered just under 1300 edited images to them. I’ve put some of my favourites here. If you would like  to see them all, just ask 🙂

I will talk about the different stages of the day, and also later on feature the Live Wedding Artist Joanna Constable Green who was also there on the day.

This was a day by the way that had every kind of weather from rain, storm clouds, wind and finally bright sunshine, usually with just five minutes between each one!

For your wedding day at Stanlake Park Wine Estate, the first part of the timeline is usually based around around the charming courtyard at the side of the vineyard itself. Here if the ceremony is indoors, then it will be in the beautiful grade II listed eighteenth century coach house. Nice!

For wedding prep you get the use of The Bow Loft, another historic and interesting space. P and C made full use of these for their morning getting ready, and then their celebrant led wedding ceremony. While the girls got prepaed the boys were a short walk away, through the fab vineyard to the nineteenth century barn, used for wedding breakfasts and receptions that can hold up to 150 guests. There’s also a small range of overnight accommodation too if needed.

After the ceremony and confetti throw in the courtyard (the rain stopped for a while) then it was into the drinks reception and some friends and family pics. That headed inside after a while (the rain came back), so between showers and watching the wedding artist do her thing, I was able to pop out a couple of times to do some wedding portraits with the two stars of the day 🙂

The vineyard itself is extensive, and a picturesque walled part has entrances to both the courtyard and the Vineyard Barn too. It’s a very pleasant walk between the two. In the barn we had some great socializing and speeches, and a wonderful wedding breakfast. The small red wine produced by Stanlake itself I had the opportunity to try was exceptional, and I know I will be ordering from their shop in the near future!

Speaking of drinking…the couple and some of the most daring guests played a very amusing sporty German drinking game (I think probably picked up at university) which our bride’s team eventually won. For the later first dance I’m delighted to say that P and C arranged an excellent band. I love to see live music at events and these guys definitely added to the uniqueness of the evening. A lovely day all-round.

Well seen as I have worked as a Chelsea Old Town Hall wedding photographer six times in the last three months, I felt entitled to write a confident blog title like ‘Find a Chelsea Old Town Hall Wedding Photographer today’ and to speak from experience 🙂

I thought it also about time to do a quick post of at least one of them in an increasing busy but very happy schedule!

Chelsea is one of what I would call the “Big Three” main and famous town halls of central London. It’s busy, many couples want to get married there, and many photographers want to be the ones to do it. It’s also had it’s fair share of very famous couples too as any quick Google search will show.

I (David) find I do a real mix of wedding timelines there. Sometimes it’s near the beginning of a longer day after groom and bridal prep, then on to a reception venue somewhere else. Other times it’s four or so hours, a half day, of ceremony, couple shoot and off to a local restaurant. And other times again, usually on a week day it’s two hours of ceremony and couple/family moments.

In peak times, like weekends I’m doing eight or nine hours if it involves a London Town Hall or Home Counties venue, sometimes four in winter. Week days I’m always very happy to pop to Chelsea for a couple of hours and help make great memories.

Here I feature D and H. Nice to know that D is a wedding planner, so I was extra pleased she choose me for a two hour wedding coverage in the week. On thing I hear too often though, is people saying they wished they had booked me for longer 🙂

Bride and groom on crossing Chelsea Old Town Hall wedding day

This recent Thursday started with meeting H the groom first and then waiting for D to arrive in their Audi A8. They live in Chelsea so it wasn’t a long drive! This was an intimate ceremony with just both sets of parents involved, so a wedding party of four.

Afterwards it was three people involved in that iconic confetti throw on Chelsea Old Town Hall steps.

Though small in number the throw was still great fun.

I did some quick group shots back inside, and then took D and H to some of my favourite spots in the surrounding area. Weather wise a typical English day, sunny, then overcast, then sunny, then: is it going to rain…?

Finally H went of in the Audi to pick up their much loved dog so that we could involve him in the day and get him into some of the shots too.

Islington Wedding Photographer. Lived there, married there, still loves there!

I love Islington! So it makes sense that I am something of an Islington wedding photographer. After all I used to live there, got married there, ran a business there, and know from experience what a great place it is. And E & T what a lovely fun couple, naturally exuberant, made for an Islington Town Hall wedding in my opinion.

I had such a good time with these two and all their guests. Plus they had an unforgettable party too on their Routemaster bus towards their reception at the Leytonstone Tavern. Just a few shots here, from over 1000 delivered to them.

Alternative wedding Hall Place with owls

Hall Place Wedding Photographer

By Barnet Wedding Photographers, London venues and events, London Wedding Photographers, Wedding VenuesNo Comments

I (David) really enjoyed my role as a Hall Place wedding photographer on 31st October, which of course as half the planet knows is Halloween.

Hall Place wedding ceremony bride and groom

It seems every year I get booked for a Halloween wedding, and invariably it is also a spookily themed celebration of love too.

I’ve just won the Wedissimo Wedding Awards for 2025, and one of the images that contributed to that as top Award for Wedding Fashion was the one from Hall Place shown below. Backstory to follow:

I was delighted to be chosen for the marriage of L & J at Hall Place in the London Borough of Bexley as I love a bit of history. These two choses a grade 1 listed stately home which was originally constructed in 1537 by rich merchant Sir John Champneys, who was also Lord Mayor of London. It’s been added to and expanded over the centuries, and is a mixture of gothic splendour and beautiful classic English architecture and gardens.

It’s gothic elements really resonated with L and J, who I would loosely describe as an alternative wedding couple, lovely people too. I have to say as well very friendly and helpful staff work at Hall Place on wedding days too which is always very helpful.

L was eight months pregnant, which I think she handled really well, and her bump was also a star of this show. The fairly intimate ceremony with about 25 friends and family was held in the Tudor Kitchen, a suitably gothic space.

After a heartfelt exchange of vows and well conducted ceremony (amid a fair amount of pumpkins and skulls!), they had a drinks reception out in the ancient courtyard.

Alternative London wedding couple with owls Hall Place Gardens

We used this time to wander through the grounds and have some couple portraits. We also me up with Jambs Owl Experience (see them here: Jambs Owls Experience at Hall Place and Gardens, who gave two beautiful owls for L and J to meet and also incorporate into their pics as they both love this breed of bird. Plus they have kind of slightly scary piecing eyes…right?

This was a shorter day for me, so after going back to the drinks reception and doing their family photo requests and a bunch of candids, I got on my broom and flew back off into the London night!

And here’s my Google review received after the wedding:

Google review Hall Place Wedding Photographer

Text says: “Had such an amazing experience with David from day number 1. We both knew he would be perfect for our alternative wedding and understanding our vision. He was always willing to listen and took into account everything we asked for while adding some amazing ideas to it!
On the day he made both of us feel super comfortable (both me and my husband are introverts) but on the day we completely forgot our worries.
I would strongly recommend David without a doubt!”

I was beyond delighted to find out recently that I had won the Wedissimo Wedding Awards for 2025.  Finalists were decided initially by a public vote, which in numbers I came top of, such a great feeling. Then, in the final itself the submissions were judged by Royal Photographer Millie Pilkington.

Millie based in her Dorset portrait studio is a well known and respected UK photographer to press and public, not least for her photos of William and Kate’s Royal Wedding. Also now known as the Prince and Princess of Wales of course 🙂

Wedissimo itself is the largest and fastest growing wedding directory of its kind in the UK, and is very similar to Airbnb in the way it works. I’m happy to say that I’ve been their busiest and allegedly most popular photographer too, which I regard as a real privilege. I’m grateful to all those couples who wrote me some stellar reviews too. I take nothing for granted!

I’m going to share some other images from the two wedding winners, for context of these particular couple’s special days, and also Millie’s published comments on them both. I’m also before that going to show my other entries that topped or were thereabouts in the public vote.

Here’s what Millie had to say about each of these winning images:

First the featured image shot at Hall Place of L & J’s Halloween wedding with owls! L was 8 months pregnant too! I choose this old textured backdrop very carefully, and here’s the original post: Hall Place Wedding Photographer

Millie Pilkington: “This portrait is a vibrant celebration of individuality and style. The rich colours—the deep purples and blacks of their outfits—contrast beautifully with the earthy tones of the rustic wooden door and brick backdrop, creating a visually striking scene. The owls add an unexpected, whimsical touch, elevating the image beyond a standard portrait to something truly unique. The couple’s gaze at one another feels genuine, adding warmth to an otherwise edgy and fashion-forward composition. Textures are key here: the rough wood, weathered bricks, and sleek fabrics create depth and dimension. It’s bold, quirky, and unapologetically confident—a standout entry that commands attention.”

Second is N & D after their wedding ceremony at Chelsea Old Town Hall. Here’s the original blog post about it:

Chelsea Old Town Hall Wedding with David

Millie Pilkington says, “This image is wonderfully eccentric—a testament to the creativity and boldness of both the photographer and the couple. The composition is meticulously balanced, ensuring every element contributes to the story without overwhelming the frame. The bride and groom’s poses and expressions strike the perfect balance between humour and elegance, fully embracing the surreal nature of the shot. The technical execution is flawless, with an excellent use of light and framing to highlight their presence while allowing the bizarre context to shine. It’s an image that’s both intriguing and entertaining—a standout piece that celebrates individuality and artistry in equal measure.”

I walked past this display outside a Mexican restaurant on my way to the ceremony, and I thought how striking, different and memorable it could be for the couple if they were into it. They, like L& J were going to get all the usual candid and documentary images I always capture, but if I think there’s something that a couple would feel comfortable with, and it would leave them with something unforgettable (in a good way!) then I will do whatever it takes to achieve that.

Sometimes that can work against me, in the sense that couples looking for their perfect wedding photographer may think my galleries are too alternative or quirky, but truly these are just a fraction of what my brides and grooms receive. And if you would like to see an entire wedding or three, please just ask. Alternatively, read my many Google reviews to find out not just what people think, but also the way I work and what those wonderful couples receive from me here:
